Personal Beliefs Positions

1.  When and how did you become a Christian?

Barbara Arthur:  "I was born in Communist Cuba to a family of generational mediums. While I was still in my mother’s womb, I was dedicated to follow in the same religious practice. In 1969, my father, two of my siblings and I fled to America on Lyndon Johnson’s Freedom Flights. However, Castro’s regime withheld my mother’s US visa, and three other siblings, for 23 years. My family was split in half for 23 years. Although my mother was not living with us physically, the spiritual implication of the occult affected my life profoundly. In 1993, while going through a very difficult divorce, I sat alone on the last pew of a church and I cried out to God for help. He heard my prayer. Immediately, God the Father transferred me from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His Son, Jesus Christ where I stand rooted and grounded today. Within a short period of time, I set up a throne in my heart and I asked the King of Kings to take His rightful place in my life. Jesus Christ did not just become my Savior; He also became my Lord, which means master."

2.  How did becoming a Christian change you?

Barbara Arthur:  "Everything in my life changed. The Holy Spirit convicted me of how I dressed, so I took most of my clothing to the consignment shop. I was in the modeling industry and the Lord called me out because He wants me to live a life that is set apart, holy. Before giving my life to the Lord, I loved rock and roll music. But on February 15, 1993, the Lord spoke to my heart clearly that I was never to listen to secular music again. By His grace, I have not tuned the radio dial to a non-Christian music station since then. I felt the call to ministry and the Lord has opened many doors for me to teach the Bible and to speak in many Christian women’s events from Billings, Montana to Miami, Florida. I homeschooled for 15 years."

3.  How would you describe your relationship with Jesus today?

Barbara Arthur:  "I love the Lord. I seek solely to obey Him because He says we only love Him as much as we obey Him. I seek to honor Him in all I do. I spend time in His Word and in prayer daily. He is my lifeline. Before I go out to campaign, I ask the Lord to guide me where He wants me to go. He never fails."

4.  Which church in which city do you attend most often?

Barbara Arthur:  "My husband and I are members of New Providence Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC."

5.  In the past 12 months, how many church services have you attended?

Barbara Arthur:  "All of them, with the exception of one or two when I got COVID."

6.  In the past 12 months, how much time have you spent in prayer to God daily?

Barbara Arthur:  "I pray every day without ceasing. In the mornings, I spend time in worship and in prayer because that’s when I get my direction for the day. I love my time with the Lord. At times I have felt I spend too much time at home in prayer. I need to get out and campaign. My answer to the question is that in the mornings, I will spend an average of one to one and a half hours in prayer and worship, and then throughout the day."

7.  In the past 12 months, how much Bible reading have you averaged daily?

Barbara Arthur:  "I read the Bible in the mornings and in the evenings. Because of campaigning, I average about 30 minutes a day in reading. Before I felt led to run for Congress, I would spend 2 to 3 hours in Bible study, daily."
